Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Verdant Edge Consulting (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2025/455134/07 ("we", "us", "our"), for your use of Map My Mind, including the website at www.mapmymind.co.za and the app at app.mapmymind.co.za.
By creating an account or using Map My Mind, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Who Can Use Map My Mind
Map My Mind is made for learners. You can use it if you are 18 or older.
If you are under 18, you may use it only with the permission of your parent or guardian. The first time you sign in, we ask you to confirm which of these applies to you. If you are under 18, you confirm that your parent or guardian has read these terms and our Privacy Policy and agrees to them on your behalf.
We keep a record of what you confirmed, and when. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will ask you to confirm again.
Your Account
You sign in through Microsoft Entra External ID. Please:
- give us correct information when you sign up;
- keep your sign-in details to yourself, and do not share your account;
- tell us straight away at info@mapmymind.co.za if you think someone else has used your account.
You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Free Trial and Paid Credits
Map My Mind is currently free to use during a free trial. We do not charge you anything at the moment.
We plan to introduce paid credits, mainly for the AI features, in the future. Before we do, we will tell you what changes and what the prices are. You will not be charged unless you choose to buy credits, and we will show you the price before you pay.
We may change, limit or end the free trial. We will give you reasonable notice first.
Your Study Material
Your notes, mind maps, tasks, tests and answers are yours. We do not claim ownership of them.
You give us permission to store, process and display your study material as needed to run Map My Mind for you. This includes sending the relevant parts to our AI service when you ask for a test to be generated or an answer to be marked. We do not use your study material to train AI models. Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
You are responsible for what you put into Map My Mind. Please only add material you have the right to use, and do not add other people's personal information without their permission.
You can export your notes and tests as PDF or Word documents whenever you like.
AI Features
Map My Mind uses AI to generate tests from your notes, and to score and explain written answers.
AI can be wrong. It can write a bad question, miss a good answer, or give an explanation that is not correct. AI feedback is for practice only. It is not an official assessment, and it does not replace your teacher, your textbook or your school's marking. Please do not rely on it for grades, decisions about your schooling, or anything else where a mistake would matter.
Acceptable Use
Please do not:
- break the law, or use Map My Mind to harm or harass anyone;
- try to get into someone else's account, or into parts of our systems you should not reach;
- interfere with the service, overload it, or use bots or scrapers on it;
- upload viruses or other harmful code;
- use the AI features to produce harmful or unlawful content; or
- copy, resell or rent out Map My Mind without our written permission.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
Availability and Changes to the Service
We work hard to keep Map My Mind running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change features, pause the service for maintenance, or stop offering something. We will try to give notice of important changes.
Our Responsibility to You
The law does not let us exclude some of our responsibilities, and nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other law that cannot be excluded.
Subject to that, and as far as the law allows, we are not responsible for:
- loss of marks, grades or opportunities, or any result of relying on AI feedback;
- indirect or consequential loss; or
- loss caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as power or internet failures, or problems at a third-party provider.
Please keep your own copy of anything important. You can export your notes and tests at any time.
Ending Your Account
You can stop using Map My Mind at any time. To close your account and delete your information, email us at info@mapmymind.co.za. We will do this within 30 days, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, or if we stop running the service. Where we can, we will give you notice and time to export your material.
Our Rights in Map My Mind
The Map My Mind software, design, name and logo belong to Verdant Edge Consulting (Pty) Ltd. These terms do not give you any rights in them, other than the right to use the service as described here.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. The date at the bottom of this page shows when they last changed. If we make an important change, we will tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using Map My Mind after a change, you accept the new terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
